About Sandboarding Doha
A guide for your afternoon in the Qatar dunes
Sandboarding Doha is an independent guide for everyone who wants to ride a board down the dunes south of Doha. Here you will find how the half-day desert safaris from Doha compare, what dune bashing, the camel ride and the stop at the Inland Sea are like, how a night trip differs, which months are comfortable, what to wear, and how sandboarding itself works: what it is, how it compares with snowboarding and which boards, wax and gear you need.
The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.
How we research
Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly Visit Qatar, the official site of Qatar Tourism, the UNESCO World Heritage Centre for Khor Al Adaid, the Qatar News Agency and IUCN for the reserve and the desert guide rules, Encyclopaedia Britannica, the US National Park Service and the US Geological Survey for the sport and the dunes, and Guinness World Records for speed records. Monthly temperatures are averages we calculate from the daily readings at Doha International airport that the US National Centers for Environmental Information publish, and day length is our own calculation. Information on tours, that is duration, languages, inclusions, and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide and Viator.
Official pages do not always agree with each other, and listings differ in what they include: a camel ride or a quad bike that one trip includes is an option or an extra on another. That is why we tell you plainly who states which figure and what a listing leaves open.
How we make money
Sandboarding Doha is funded through the GetYourGuide and Viator affiliate programs. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.
Who is behind it
Sandboarding Doha is run by Lukas Weber from Munich. You will find all details about the provider in the legal notice. The easiest way to send questions, comments, or corrections is to email [email protected].
